DPJ Diet members discuss economic exchange with Mongolian parliamentary delegation
|
On February 3, Vice Director General of the International Department Issei Koga met and exchanged opinions with a bipartisan delegation from the Mongolian State Great Khural, headed by the Chair of the Mongolia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship League, D. Gankhuyag. The meeting was also attended by Next Vice Minister of Education, Sports, Science and Technology Yoshio Maki, Vice Directors General of the International Department Marutei Tsurunen, Yuichiro Hata and Masamitsu Naito, and member of the House of Councillors Yukishige Okubo for the DPJ.
The Mongolian side called for the active advance of Japanese companies into Mongolia, and in particular for an increase in Japanese investment. Furthermore, both sides shared the recognition that it was extremely important for both countries to work to promote economic and cultural exchange, as well as encouraging exchanges of personnel.
Moreover, while anxiety about the difficulties of arranging Mongolian Prime Minister Bayar’s proposed visit to Japan so that it did not coincide with the forthcoming general election was revealed, the importance of making sure that the visit went ahead successfully was emphasized.
