ニュース 2009/09/04 Hatoyama receives a courtesy call from Chinese ambassador On September 4, DPJ President Yukio Hatoyama received a courtesy call from Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai at party headquarters, and enjoyed a friendly discussion. Hatoyama welcomed the Ambassador, who conveyed a congratulatory message from Chinese President Hu Jintao, as well as praising the DPJ, which had continued to place weight upon Japan-China relations, for the contributions it had made toward enhancing the friendship between the two nations. Following the meeting, Hatoyama told reporters: “I said that we would like to create an enhanced reciprocal strategic relationship [with China], and to make that relationship more substantial.”
