Ozawa to visit UK from September 20

On September 18, it was announced that a fact-finding team from the DPJ, comprising of Secretary General Ichiro Ozawa, member of the House of Representatives Takeshi Hidaka, and various specialists would visit the United Kingdom from September 20 to 25 to undertake research.
The items to be studied by the team were to include (1) parliamentary debating methods and governing techniques, (2) restrictions on and liberalization of election campaigning, (3) prohibitions on donations from corporations and other organisations and the situation regarding donations from individuals, and (4) changes to be made in order to move toward reforming the bureaucracy.
The team plans to meet with senior staff members from the Labour and Conservative parties, the House of Commons, and related ministries such as the Home Office, as well as with academics and the like.
