Hatoyama responds to reporters’ questions on Ishikawa indictment

On February 4, Prime Minister and DPJ President Yukio Hatoyama responded to reporters’ questions at the Prime Minister’s Office, commenting on the indictment of Tomohiro Ishikawa (Hokkaido 11th District), on charges of violating the Political Fund Control Law. Hatoyama expressed his regret at this news, saying, “As party President I feel extremely sorry and would like to express my regrets.” He went on to say, “I would like to watch over proceedings in a clear-headed manner to establish where the truth lies. It is up to [Ishikawa] himself to decide whether he should resign or not.”
