Turkmen politicians pay visit to party headquarters
|
On March 23, members of the House of Councillors Shin-kun Haku, Koshin Fujitani, and members of the House of Representatives Joe Nakano (International Department Vice Director General) and Takashi Iseki received a courtesy call from eight Turkmen lawmakers.
The Turkmen side explained that a general election had been held in their country in 2008, and described Turkmenistan’s political system. They added that they wanted to learn more about the Japanese legal system and explained that many Turkmen students studied overseas and that the cost of this was mainly borne by the government.
In response, the DPJ side said that Japan had one of the lowest levels of students studying overseas amongst Asian nations. It was emphasised that this needed to be improved, and that engagement education was a key policy for the DPJ.
