Koshiishi gives New Year’s address at party headquarters

On January 4, DPJ Secretary General Azuma Koshiishi and Acting Secretary General Shinji Tarutoko addressed party staffers on the first working day of the new year.

During his speech Koshiishi expressed his resolution, saying, “A very difficult year, which we should never forget, has now ended, and we are now welcoming the new year of 2012. As the ruling party, it is the DPJ’s mission to join hands and spirits and move forward. To borrow the words of Prime Minister Noda, we must overcome one by one the huge problems that we face, which can be described as a national crisis. That is the destiny of the DPJ. I would like to make every effort to respond to the expectations of the Japanese people in order to make this new year a good one.”

Tarutoko stated, “This is a make or break year. I would like us to see out the year, being ready to face both ups and downs. I am convinced that this will be to the benefit of the Japanese people.”

Administration Committee Chair Naoki Tanaka, Corporate and External Organisations Committee Chair Shuji Ikeguchi and Senior Vice Secretary General Koji Matsui also expressed their expectations for the coming year.
