Koshiishi urges continued support for Japan to remain a peaceful nation led by the DPJ in Yachiyo, Chiba

On the afternoon of December 7, Secretary General Azuma Koshiishi delivered a public speech in Yachiyo City, Chiba Prefecture. Koshiishi emphasized the importance of peace, stating that “Currently there has been much talk about a ‘National Defense Force (Kokubo-gun).’ It seems the people are anxious about the direction of this country and the Constitution of Japan. Japan, as a country of peace, is able to convey the importance of peace to the world. We have to continue to be a peaceful nation. We must never start another war causing people to kill each other.” He asked for support from the audience for the DPJ, led by President Yoshihiko Noda, who has consistently ensured Japan’s national security through exclusively defense-oriented means and maintained Japan’s stance as a peaceful nation, saying “Please give us the right to continue to steer this country. We have embraced your opinions and will carry out your will.”

Koshiishi also stated that “Prime Minister Noda made the very difficult decision to ask to increase taxes. This policy is unpopular but is an unavoidable issue for Japan today. The DPJ is the party that faced the situation head-on and worked hard on the critical issue of maintaining social security systems and securing peace of mind in people’s everyday lives for the future.” He highlighted the political path that the DPJ has taken so far to give dreams to children, hope to the younger generation, and safety to the elderly, stating that “Prime Minister Noda has expressed his determination to revitalize Japan by inspiring children, local communities, and the workforce.”

“It is the mission of politics to create communities where all people―children, the younger generation, and the elderly can lead happy lives all over Japan. Our party will not cease to do all we can to create such a society. Our party will never give up on reforms implemented after the change in government. Our party will secure and establish the future of Japan with you all. We understand that after three years and three months of DPJ Administration there still remain some unsolved issues; however, we are confident that we are moving in the right direction―towards policies that value the lives of the people,” Koshiishi proclaimed, calling for support from the audience.
