Okada meets with Philippine President


On June 3, DPJ President Okada paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Benigno S. Aquino III, President of the Republic of the Philippines, visiting Japan as a state guest, in a Tokyo hotel.

Okada welcomed the visit of Aquino and other senior officials to Japan. He stressed the importance of the bilateral ties between the two countries, and stated, “The Japan-Philippines relationship has become even stronger since you took office as President.” Okada also referred to his efforts made to enhance the bilateral partnership when serving as the Minister for Foreign Affairs, and the two sides exchanged views on international affairs and other matters.

The meeting was also attended by DPJ International Department Director-General Yukihisa Fujita.
