On March 5, the Director General of the DPJ International Department Yukihisa Fujita received a courtesy visit from a seven-member bipartisan delegation of Nepali parliamentarians. The meeting was also attended by International Department Director General Harunobu Yonenaga and member of the House of Representatives Naoto Sakaguchi.
The Nepali side expressed their congratulations to the DPJ for winning last year’s general election and forming a government, and said that they wished to go on to create even more friendly relations between Japan and Nepal under the new administration.
Fujita said that he had participated in a Standing Committee meeting of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties, held in the Nepali capital Kathmandu at the end of February, and expressed the hope that Nepal could develop a new governing structure via the creation of a new constitution.
