Vietnamese Communist Party delegation pays courtesy call on Okumura

On March 16, DPJ Administration Committee Chair Tenzo Okumura received a courtesy call from a Communist Party of Vietnam delegation, led by the Chair of the party’s Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations, Hoang Binh Quan. The meeting was also attended by Deputy Chair of the Administration Committee, Kazumasa Okajima.

At the start of the meeting, Okumura welcomed the delegation’s visit to Japan and spoke of the significance of the friendly relationship that had been created between Japan and Vietnam over many years.

The Vietnamese side extended their congratulations to the DPJ for the party’s victory in last year’s general election, and expressed the desire to develop and extend the friendly relationship that had been created up until now between the two countries and between the two parties.

Okumura stated that the DPJ wished to deepen exchanges between Japan and Vietnam and between the DPJ and the Communist Party of Vietnam. He added that Japan would also like to cooperate in repairing the basic infrastructure, and to contribute to the development of Vietnam as a fellow Asian nation. The meeting saw constructive discussions which came to an end with these remarks.
