On November 25, DPJ Secretary General Katsuya Okada received a courtesy call from the Chair of the Majilis, Kazakhstan’s lower house of parliament, Oral Mukhamedzhanov. The two discussed a variety of issues. The meeting was also attended by the Administration Chair Makoto Taki and International Department Director-General Chinami Nishimura for the DPJ.

At the start of the meeting, Okada welcomed Mukhamedzhanov, and touched on the visits he had made to Hiroshima, Kyoto and Nagoya in the course of his stay, saying that he must have been able to deepen his understanding of Japan. Okada went on to say that when he visited Kazakhstan during his term of office as Minister of Foreign Affairs he had met with many persons, including the President. He expressed his expectations for the development of the bilateral relationship, saying, “I felt the importance of the bilateral relationship [during my visit to Kazakhstan].”

Mukhamedzhanov commented, “I would like to discuss the past, present and future development of the bilateral relationship, as well as cooperation between political parties.”
