On January 29 (local time) DPJ President, Prime Minister Naoto Kan, attended the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland and made a speech entitled, “Opening Japan and Reinventing Kizuna [Interpersonal Ties]”.
During his speech, Kan emphasized the importance of proceeding with the “Third Opening of Japan” through forging economic partnerships with foreign nations and the like, and on the domestic front, of strengthening efforts toward social inclusion by reducing disparities and isolation and creating “new social ties”.
