On June 15, US Ambassador Dr. John V. Roos was the guest speaker at the 2nd meeting of the Brown Bag Lunch Special Project “Voices from the World”, which was held inside the Diet building.
At the start of the meeting, Secretary General Okada made a welcoming address saying, “I would like to convey my appreciation for the assistance we have received from the people, government and armed forces of the United States following the Great East Japan Earthquake. The relationship between Japan and the United States has been further deepened. I myself enjoyed a variety of discussions with the Ambassador as Minister for Foreign Affairs in the Hatoyama administration. I would be delighted if you could give us your frank opinions regarding the Japan-US relationship.”
In his speech Roos discussed the deepening of the Japan-US relationship from a variety of perspectives, and he also discussed a variety of issues with the assembled Diet members.
