On July 27, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Japan, Shin Kak-soo, was the guest at the 4th session the BBL Special Project “Voices from the World”, which was held at a location inside the Diet.
At the start of the meeting, DPJ Secretary General Katsuya Okada welcomed Shin, saying, “It seems that Japan-ROK relations are progressing in a positive fashion following the change of government [in Japan]. This is a result of the tremendous efforts made by everyone involved in the bilateral relationship, including Your Excellency.”
In his speech, Shin touched on a visit he had made to the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as emphasizing the importance of creating a cooperative relationship between Japan and the ROK. He stated that through deepening mutual understanding at the grassroots level, “the bilateral relationship is now entering an era where we are experiencing a shift to a new paradigm.”
Following his speech, Shin engaged in a lively discussion with participating Diet members.
