On September 21, the DPJ Policy Research Committee held a discussion meeting on the 3rd supplementary budget, open to all DPJ Diet members. The participating members heard explanations from the administration on (1) spending measures to be included in the supplementary budget, including measures relating to recovery and reconstruction from the Great East Japan Earthquake, the strong yen, Hepatitis B, and typhoon damage, and (2) non-tax revenue measures and their scope, said measures to be included in order to reduce as much as possible tax system measures to be taken in order to provide sources of revenue for recovery and reconstruction. These points were then discussed.
Senior Vice Chair of the Policy Research Committee Atsushi Oshima said that, after additional party-wide discussions had take place in a further discussion meeting to be held on September 22, the party intended to reach certain conclusions on this issue.
