On October 14, a meeting of the DPJ Standing Officers Council was held at party headquarters. In the document approved by the Council, the objective of such exchanges was stated to be ‘further deepening mutual understanding and a relationship of trust between both nations and both political parties, promoting comprehensive development of friendly bilateral relations, and contributing to the peace and prosperity of Asia and the world.” The aim is for the party to engage in periodic exchanges, including those between top leadership, politicians, related organizations and staff members, with such exchanges to include as many individual politicians as possible.
The new line-up for the Japan-China “Exchange and Discussion Mechanism” which manages exchanges with the Chinese Communist Party was also approved as follows:
