At the 562nd meeting of the DPJ Standing Officers Council on August 21, the Democratic Party of Japan approved the establishment of Election Campaign Headquarters for Both Houses in order to promote the party’s overall efforts in the 46th election of the House of Representatives and the 23rd election of the House of Councillors.
Executive members of the Headquarters held their first meeting in the Diet building on the evening of the same day. Headquarters’ Acting Chair Azuma Koshiishi and Secretary General Shinji Tarutoko gave an overview of work on the elections, and Director General Yoshiaki Takaki presented two guidelines on the fielding of candidates for each campaign.
