The four DPJ Presidential candidates attend an open debate hosted by Japan National Press Club

On the afternoon of September 12, the four DPJ Presidential candidates, Yoshihiko Noda, Hirotaka Akamatsu, Kazuhiro Haraguchi, Michihiko Kano (in the order of registration), attended an open debate hosted by Japan National Press Club in Tokyo.
The debate consisted of two sessions. During the first session, the four candidates each expressed their determination and discussed 1) prospects for tax increases and the comprehensive reform of the social security and taxation systems, and 2) the domestic and foreign policies issues on which they place the highest priority within their agendas. During the second session, Japan National Press Club posed questions to each candidate related to the comprehensive reform of the social security and taxation systems, economic policies, nuclear stations, energy policies, and territorial issues.
