On October 4, DPJ Policy Research Committee Chair Goshi Hosono attended the executive meeting of the party’s Policy Research Committee for the first time in his new capacity as chair. Hosono stated “I would like to ask for your assistance in overcoming the recent difficulties and for you to do your outmost to gain support for our policies from the people of Japan.”
In addition, Hosono expressed his firm determination as the chair of the committee in charge of the party’s principal policies to carry out three major agenda items in particular: (1) In order to focus on restoration from the Great East Japan Earthquake and on issues related to Fukushima in particular, create a special-assignment position for Fukushima and name Acting Policy Research Committee Chair Teruhiko Mashiko (Member of the House of Councillors) as the person in charge; (2) resume development of the manifesto; (3) dedicate maximum effort to drafting the budget for the next fiscal year.
