Since the change in government in 2009, the ruling Democratic Party of Japan has implemented legislation for improving the pension system and agricultural situation in line with the opinions of the people. Here are some of the DPJ’s achievements.

[Restored 13 million pension records]

Regarding 50 million unidentified pension account records, the DPJ has succeeded in compiling 16 million records and restored 13 million pension records (worth 1.6 trillion yen) through the delivery of Pension Coverage Special Notices. The DPJ have also launched cross-verification of both the paper ledger and the computer records of 79 million people and is scheduled to complete the process for all records by fiscal 2013. As of May 2012, the DPJ has completed the cross-verification of 70% of all records. The personalized pension services -Pension Net- that enable people to check their pension records on the internet (for both those who have enrolled and those who have yet to enroll) were initiated in February 2011.

[Revitalized agriculture by establishing individual-household income compensation system]

For the revitalization of food and local communities, the DPJ have established an individual-household income compensation system that covers the difference between the retail price and production cost for those farmers who fulfill the necessary requirements and produce designated products such as rice, wheat, soy, beetroots, and soba, etc.
