Establishment of Manifesto Development Committee

On October 16, the 568th meeting of the DPJ Standing Officers Council decided on the process for the creation of a new manifesto. This includes the establishment of a Manifesto Development Committee. Details are as follows.

[Schedule and Milestones]

- The committee will develop the Manifesto by listening to the opinions of the people of Japan
- Under the oversight of President Noda and Secretary General Koshiishi, a working group will (1) review the Manifesto of 2009 and 2010 to highlight achievements or further issues, (2) examine policies for the new Manifesto, and (3) gather relevant information, among other tasks.
- The working group shall report and discuss the outcome of their work at executive meetings of the Policy Research Committee or Standing Officers Council in a timely manner. The working group shall promote the participation of all DPJ Diet members in their work, utilizing opportunities such as discussions at subcommittees or gatherings.
- The committee shall hold a national meeting of the representatives from the DPJ local policy research committee at the time of the national meeting of the Secretaries-General of DPJ local branches. As appropriate, the committee shall gather opinions from those such as DPJ party members or supporters within local organizations.
- The committee shall hold hearings with representatives of each bloc, as well as with a variety of industries and organizations. This shall be undertaken with the cooperation of the Secretary General’s office, the Policy Research Committee, and other party departments.
- The committee aims to complete its examination of achievements and further issues within October.
- The target date to complete all processes, including those for electoral strategies or issues of political contention, will be set by President Noda or Secretary General Koshiishi.
