On the afternoon of November 14, the Assistant Director General of the DPJ Election Campaign Headquarters, Sumio Mabuchi, held a press conference at party headquarters to announce that the new DPJ TV commercial entitled “Honesty for Now and for the Future” (tentative translation) had been completed and would be broadcast starting from the following day, November 15.

This commercial clarifies and reaffirms the DPJ’s origins and standpoint. We will address important challenges such as restoration from the Great East Japan Earthquake, support for the elderly members of society, and energy-related issues – major issues requiring major decisions. We are not satisfied with the idea that “if it is okay now there is no need to think about it” and we will fulfill our responsibilities for the future of the nation. We will make sincere efforts to explain and discuss issues before coming to the most appropriate decision. We have tried to represent these ideas through footage of people who wholeheartedly embrace their everyday existence and the catch phrase “Honesty for Now and for the Future” (tentative translation), while reflecting on the long journey the Japanese people have taken to be where we are today.
