On January 22, the DPJ Political Reform Promotion Headquarters (chaired by Supreme Advisor Katsuya Okada) held an executive meeting and exchanged views regarding (1) the reform of the electoral system for the House of Representatives, (2) Internet campaigning, and (3) the reform of the Diet. In order to further discussions, the headquarters decided to establish a subcommittee on Internet election campaigning; DPJ Public Relations Committee Chair Kan Suzuki was appointed as the chair.
At the 574th meeting of the DPJ Standing Officers Council, Masaharu Nakagawa (Acting Secretary General) and Kazuhiro Haraguchi (Next Minister of Internal Affairs and Communications) were newly appointed as Vice Chairs; and Kan Suzuki (Public Relations Committee Chair), Kenta Izumi (Director of the Special Committee on Political Ethics and Election Law, House of Representatives), and Shinya Adachi (Head Director of the Special Committee on Political Ethics and Election Law, House of Councillors) were also appointed as Vice Directors-General.
