On the afternoon of August 1, a Vietnam-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Association delegation led by Association President, Chair of the Vietnamese Communist Party’s Commission for Organization, To Huy Rua visited DPJ headquarters and met with President Banri Kaieda. The meeting was also attended by Administration Committee Chair Koichi Takemasa and International Department Director-General Yuji Fujimoto.
At the start of the meeting, Kaieda welcomed the delegation, and expressed the desire that the bilateral relationship would be further strengthened, saying: “Vietnam is currently undergoing extremely dramatic economic development. I believe that there is much that we in Japan can do help with infrastructure support and the like. I would like to continue to provide encouragement for this growth. Furthermore, in terms of politics, our country also highly values relations with ASEAN nations.”
Rua expressed his appreciation for the DPJ’s contribution to bilateral relations, commenting: “I am delighted that the relationship between Japan and Vietnam is continuing to develop. The Democratic Party of Japan has played a large role in the development of the bilateral relationship.”
