On April 7, a DPJ delegation to the United States, led by President Banri Kaieda, departed from Narita airport. The delegation will visit Washington DC from April 7 to 9, meeting with representatives of the U.S. Congress, government officials, and intellectuals. In addition, Kaieda will give a speech, entitled ‘Perspectives on Japanese Politics and the Future of the U.S.-Japan Alliance’ at the Brookings Institution.
The DPJ is the leading opposition party in Japan. We have experience of government and are now engaged in reviving our party and retaking power. This visit takes place in consideration of the current national security situation facing Japan and the importance of the Japan-U.S. alliance, its purpose being for the DPJ to rebuild diplomatic connections and raise its international profile.
