On August 7, at a regular press conference, DPJ Secretary General Akihiro Ohata told reporters, “The DPJ is currently conducting an intensive campaign across the country to rally against permitting the exercise of the right to collective self-defense. Given how well the tabloid-sized flyer for the campaign was received, we have decided to print more, significantly raising the number of flyers from 500,000 to 1,200,000.” Ohata then vowed, “Since the media is not reporting the true nature of the Abe administration to the public, the DPJ is working hard to inform the public of the truth, through street rallies and public gatherings. Our aim is to raise the Abe administration’s disapproval rating above its approval rating by the upcoming extraordinary Diet session.”
